4th Anniversary in Cambodia

1st July is the 4th anniversary of me and woody. This time we've celebrated our anniversary by visiting to Cambodia.

We had mainly spend time in Angkor Wat - the largest religious monument in the world.
Yes! you're on the right track, if you're doing research before travel to this historical building/ Or you're interested to this historical building and considering about to visit here.
Angkor Archaeological Park ticket differentiate into 3 types: 1 day (37USD), 3 days (62USD) & 7 days
(72USD) ticket.
We booked our flight from 28th June to 2nd July and we choose 3 days ticket.

When I do research about this trip, I found that the officers in airport will ask for tips although this is illegal. Cambodia has look at this problem solemnly and strictly not allowed for their custom officers to collect tips from immigration. So this time I went there, they langsung didn't ask for any tips from us.

Accommodation
We stay in Grand Bayon Siem Reap hotel which located in the central area of Seam Reap. It costs RM292 only for 4 nights because the time we visited to Seam Reap is travel off-season (May - Oct) so there will be lots of hotel having discounts. I booked it from Agoda and they offered us with free breakfast. Maybe you can get a lower price than this if you book earlier? Because I booked it few days before I stay in, we decided to travel unexpectedly and planned in a short time. It only took 5 - 10 minutes of walking distances from hotel to night market and pub street. Since this hotel established in 2016, all their facilities are quite new. Their customer service are good, friendly and polite. They do house keeping every morning after we went out... so the room is in clean and tidy condition when we back to our room. P/S: Keep your important & expensive belongings before you go out. In addition, at the day I checked in they give me free upgrade from double deluxe city view room to family suite with balcony. Although they only have several breakfast choices, but their food is nice. WiFi speed is also fast enough. Overall I feel so satisfied and recommended this hotel.

Transportation
Most of the hotel are located at Siem Reap central area, so you have to take tuk-tuk car, car or motor by your own (if you're alone) to Angkor Wat since this historical building have some distances from central area. The suggested transportation way is small and big tour by tuk-tuk car and the outside tour by van. I booked my transportation with Mr. Plet through Facebook (I saw few people recommended this driver in their article). Three days tour in Angkor Wat and round trip between airport and hotel, he charged me for 80USD only!! I contacted and booked the time with him before I depart from Malaysia.
Plet's Facebook
It is cheaper if you book whole trip with the one same driver than you take every single trip with different driver or order tuk-tuk car through hotel receptionist.

Food
The food in Cambodia are really nice than what I expected!!! Except their local fast food and pizza are slightly inferior.
The first night dinner we went to Lucky Mall, the only and biggest shopping mall in Siam Reap. We tried their local fast food "Lucky Burger" for $7.60 for two set of meals, around RM32. For me, McD taste better than Lucky Burger but Cambodia does not have any franchises of McD but have Burger King and KFC.

The second day Mr. Plet take us to a food shop like 茶餐室 named Restaurant C.V.T located in a small street opposite the Lucky Mall. This food store was operated by overseas Chinese people so that we don't have to worry that the food is not "ngam" to us. We tried the Tomyum pork meehoon $3.5 and Tomyum seafood fried rice $2.5 with free flow of green tea.

And finally we tried authentic Cambodia food for dinner in The Red Angkor Restaurant. This is Amok, which filled curry, coconut juice and fish/pork in the coconut. It costs $3 but then I saw cheaper price of $2 and $2.5 in other shops. Fruit shake is $1 and steam rice is $0.25 each.

After that we went to Pub Street for some alcoholic drink. The whole area in Pub Street are pub and bar, some have live singer too. We choose to have drinks in The Red Piano. This bar is the favorite bar of Angelina Jolie when she was taking film at Cambodia many years ago. This cocktail is Angelina Jolie's favorite drink.
Tomb Raider Cocktail $3.75
Draft beer (Angkor beer) $1

For the third day, we had our brunch at the food stall in the Angkor Wat. The price at here are slightly higher than in the city because here is tourists attraction place.

Cambodia yellow noodle $5, Coconut juice $1.5
Stew fish $6. This was absolutely NICE!!
Tonight dinner was special. We had Happy Pizza in Ecstatic Pizza (you can try their pizza in most of their food shops). So what's their special in the pizza? MARIJUANA! They are default to use marijuana as seasoning. Every person will have different effect after eating the pizza. Their pizza in food menu are shown in normal price, if you want "happy" as seasoning, have to add on $2. This is the first time we try marijuana so for safety purpose, we only order the smallest size of pizza. It costs us $8 with free garlic bread or free draft beer (most of the shop offer free draft beer only).
After both of us having this pizza, we doesn't feel any uncomfortable or 'strange' feeling. But the next day, both of us feel headache when we wake up at 7.30am since we planned to visit big tour at 8.30am today. The moment when I leave my bed and step on the floor, I saw the view in front of me is whirling AND i can't even stand still! In the end we postpone the time to visit big tour at 12pm. If you're not good in drinking beer or seldom to drink, don't drink when you try "happy" pizza. People with heart diseases or weak physique are also not suggested to try "happy" pizza yea!

And this is their authentic local food too but I forget what's the name. It's something like curry but the taste got a bit sour and it's quite special. We had this at Palmboo Restaurant that located in the Angkor Wat scenic area.

Last dinner in Angkor Wat. We order one Luk Lak (beef) and one tofu soup. Both are nice too. This restaurant named Father Restaurant and it offer Chinese food, Western Food and Cambodia food.

Also..... do not miss out their street food - fried noodle. You can see this type of mobile stall anywhere at the roadside. It only costs $1 with fried egg. The portion is quite big and enough to full an adult stomach. Too worthy because it is delicious!
